Professional licences (C, CE, D, DE)

Do you want to work as a heavy goods driver, a courier, a haulier or a bus driver? Our driving school runs courses for professional licences and for driver training.

Minimum age

  • C licence: 21 (reduced to 18 if you take the CQC for goods at the same time)
  • D licence: 24 (reduced to 21 if you take the CQC for passengers at the same time)

Theory course

Our theory courses run twice a week in the afternoon, which also suits people who work or study:

  • Tuesday: 17:00 to 20:00
  • Thursday: 17:00 to 20:00

The tests

The route has two successive steps:

  • Theory test: a computer-based quiz on the topics and rules specific to heavy vehicles.
  • Practical test: once you have passed the theory you are issued the Foglio Rosa, so you can start lessons and take the practical test in the relevant vehicle.

One essential detail: the CQC

If your aim is to drive professionally, the licence alone is not enough: by law you must also hold the CQC (driver qualification card). Our driving school runs combined courses so you gain your licence and CQC together, saving time and getting you ready for work straight away!

What you need to enrol

  • A valid ID document
  • A B licence (or another licence you hold)
  • Your tax code
  • Recent passport photos
  • A medical history certificate from your own doctor
  • A residence permit (for non-EU citizens)

CQC (driver qualification card)

The CQC is compulsory for anyone who wants to drive professionally, whether carrying goods or passengers. Unlike ordinary licences, you cannot obtain it by studying on your own: it requires attendance on a course and a computer-based exam at the Motorizzazione Civile.

Age requirements

The Highway Code allows significant reductions to encourage people into road haulage through accelerated courses:

  • CQC for goods: the minimum age is 18.
  • CQC for passengers: the minimum age is 21.

Accelerated training course

The course lasts 140 hours in total, made up of:

  • 110 hours of common content
  • 20 hours of specialisation (goods or passengers)
  • 10 hours of practical driving
Theory classes

Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 17:00 to 22:00.

The exam

The exam is taken on a computer at the Motorizzazione Civile in a single session:

  • One paper of 70 true-or-false questions (40 on the common part, 30 on the specialist part)
  • Time allowed: 90 minutes
  • A maximum of 7 mistakes is allowed

CQC extension: from goods to passengers (and vice versa)

Already hold a goods or passenger CQC and want to widen your job opportunities?

If you already hold a CQC qualification (goods or passengers) and want the dual qualification, you are entitled to the extension by integration.

That means you are exempt from the general part of the syllabus and of the exam: you study only the specific subjects of the sector you are missing, saving time and skipping all the repeated modules.

What you need to enrol

  • A valid ID document
  • Your tax code
  • Your driving licence: the one you hold (for example a B licence if you are taking both together, or your C/D licence if you already have it)
  • Recent passport photos
  • A residence permit (for non-EU citizens)

5% discount on licence renewal for Defence sector personnel (Army, Navy, Air Force, Carabinieri), Regione Piemonte employees and members of affiliated CRAL associations.
